Our Approach.

Machair is a word used to describe a unique coastal landscape found in the Scottish Highlands and islands. These fertile, sandy plains sit alongside the sea and are shaped over time by wind, water, and time.  Machair Therapeutics reflects the process of healing — slow, resilient, and deeply connected to the environment we live in.

In many ways, therapy is like the machair. It offers the right conditions for growth, even when life has been challenging or unsettled. In our work together, I can create space for insight, healing, and change to emerge at your own pace. I believe there is no single way to “do” therapy. Each person is different, and my approach is collaborative, creative, and led by what feels right for you.

Therapy and self-development involve exploring the relationship between who we are at our core and how our experiences, relationships, and wider social worlds have shaped us.

Machair Therapeutics is rooted in the work of Carl Rogers and the Person-Centred approach, which is based on acceptance, respect, honest communication, and unconditional positive regard. When someone feels truly heard and valued, change can happen naturally.

Person-Centred Therapy creates a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences, reconnect with your authentic self, and begin to trust yourself more fully.

Alongside my therapy training, I am also a trained yoga teacher, and these two practices deeply inform one another. Yoga has taught me the importance of listening to the body, working with the nervous system, and understanding healing as something that happens over time, with patience and love.
